The Louismakesfood Backstory

About me

My name is Louis-David Poisson, I was born in Montreal, QC, and moved to Vancouver, BC when I was 4. I am now 20 years old and currently studying at HEC Montréal in the B.A.A. I love football (go Pack go!), skiing, and of course, cooking!

The story

Louismakesfood began long before the first post on Instagram was published. I've been an avid food lover and an amateur chef for years, always willing to try new things and experiment with different flavours. It was my mom who instored in me a deep love for cooking, watching her cook as a child was what inspired me to start making my own food. Ever since I made my first real recipe (an egg inside a piece of toast), I've been passionated with pushing the limits of what I thought was possible in a home kitchen. From beef jerky, to restaurant style burgers, to chow mein, all the way to bread, these meals had always been things that had seemed unattainable to me, until I tried them all and discovered that if I truly set my mind to it, I could make them all.

A little under a year ago, when I posted my first post, Instagram was just a way I could finally show off the food I was so proud of to the whole world. Now, I'm realizing that this idea, this concept, this brand I have created, can be so much more than just an Instagram page. The beauty and simplicity of louismakesfood is that anyone can make what I make. Put your name there instead of mine. As Anton Ego in Ratatouille so eloquently puts it: "Anyone can cook". I want louismakesfood to be the embodiment of that idea. An inspiration to everyone who has yet to pick up a knife or a spatula, and make them realize that anyone, even you, can cook. You make the food. You be the chef. Louismakesfood can take you there.
